From 1 September 2015 there will be significant changes to the laws relating to powers of attorney. The new Powers of Attorney Act 2014 comes into force from that date and will replace two previous Acts regulating powers of attorney. The forms of the powers of attorney are yet to be finalised, however there will be new improved General and Enduring Powers of Attorney, a new Supportive Attorneys form and increased VCAT jurisdiction, including offences for attorneys who have breached their obligations. See Powers of Attorney link for more information.
