Wills

Our Services

Having a Will prepared is the most important step you can take in protecting your assets and their distribution to your beneficiaries in accordance with your wishes.

If you are a parent, a Will can record your wishes about who will look after your minor children in the event of your death (ie. their guardian).

The law is becoming increasingly complex in the Wills and Estates areas for non-lawyers to understand and whilst a Will kit may seem a cheaper option initially, in fact it may become more expensive if a lawyer is not engaged and things go wrong after the willmaker has passed away and there are technical and other errors in the Will. This then leads to costs well in excess of the cost of having a legally valid Will prepared.

By engaging a lawyer to prepare a Will you can better understand your legal obligations and the options you have for dividing up your estate.  This is especially important if you are in a blended family or have been married more than once; will-makers in these personal circumstances may have responsibilities and obligations to many people in their lives.

With our assistance in preparing your Will you can be comfortable in knowing that you have received proper legal advice and your family will not incur unnecessary, increased costs after your death.

At KMK Legal we can also advise you on the benefits or otherwise of incorporating discretionary testamentary trust provisions into your Will.

If you would like our assistance to prepare your Will, we can provide you with information to consider (and if relevant to discuss with your spouse or partner in advance) in preparation for our first meeting.
